The Dad Sneaker Trend

Not sure if this happens to you or not but sometimes I buy something and keep it in my closet for like a month before I even touch it and wear it! That was the case with these “Dad Sneakers.”  This Dad Sneaker trend has been going on for a while ever since Balenciaga came out with their Triple S Sneakers .  I’ve wanted in on this trend ever since but they were basically IMPOSSIBLE to get because they were sold out everywhere! (btw I just checked and now they are easier to find). Those things were SO ugly but that made me want them even more, can anyone relate?

Anyway, I dropped the subject for a few months until I went to NYFW this past September and oh my gosh…..EVERYONE was wearing “Dad Sneakers!”  Everyone, everywhere was wearing them with jeans, pants, skirts, and my favorite was with long maxi-dresses.  I thought that was the most genius idea because all I packed was all sorts of shoes with heels and boy did I pay a high price for that! I walked (and ran) so much that I was literally about to go down the street to SOHO and buy some of the gorgeous Louis Vuitton Archlight Sneakers….. but again…..you guessed it…..they were all sold out and nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get your hands on a pair! (I think by now they are hopefully restocked!)

As soon as I got home I went to the mall and bought this pair of Fila Disruptor II’s so I decided to plan out an outfit for a quick photoshoot.  The outfit details are below.  Hubby wasn’t loving the whole Dad Sneaker trend but he’s learned to just go with the flow with all the latest fashion trends that I’ve been adopting lately hahaha! Anyway, these are literally the most comfortable pair of sneakers that I have at the moment! They instantly make you a few inches taller and are so comfy!

I decided to style it with this plaid blazer romper, a black belt bag, and my black baker boy hat which I still love.  As it is I’ve been so into sneakers lately but these just became my new favorite pair!

  6. Oooh you’re combining two trends I’ll never try in this post haha! The dad sneakers and the belt bag. I just feel like my 90’s childhood is resurfacing and I’m not as excited as I thought I might be. But hey – everyone has unique styles. I love that!

I’m seeing so many bloggers doing it and honestly, I feel like you’re the first that I’ve seen that actually pulled it off well. I feel like so many others it just seems so clunky and unnatural.
